LIVING IN A VAN working DOWN BY THE RIVER

the lowdown: After graduating high school I've taken a job in Jackson, Wyoming at Mad River Boat Trips. they do whitewater and scenic rafting trips down the snake river. I'm a Shuttle Driver (sometimes drivingclients to the river in a large passenger van, other times driving a truck with the boat trailer between river boat ramps). I Live in a 1980 Ford Ambulance (350 Econoline Chateau) its awesome. i have a twin bed modded in and its actually quite cozy (pictures coming soon enough)

it cost me about.... $330 to drive up her in 12 hours at about 55 MPH (about 5-8 MPG) this trip is usually done in just over 9 hours for not much over a $100- $150.

I stopped at Utah State University in Logan, for a meeting with my academic advisor and a couple tours (housing and campus), im very excited to attend there and am just getting my basic courses out of the way for now... with hopes to major in History Secondary Teaching or something similar. I'll be staying in the Rich Hall which is an apartment style, with five roomates. I've FB'd my roomates and they don't look half bad. needless to say, I'm Siked

More Recently:

I'm lovin here, everyone is really sweet and its a super chilled laid back atmosphere. As i've told about everyone i've talked to at home i'm getting paid more, for doing less. That's how life should be right? exactly. Yeah there are trade offs.. smaller room.. less warm showers. etc. but still i love it. I've ran three trips in the week i've been here with lots of training as well. I've learned the ways of Forever Resorts (our parent company), played games, and am now Red Cross certified in CPR, First aid, and using an AED (the real name for those shock pads. think....CLEAR!) . the weather is super...... all over it can be raining.. then be 70... then snowing... then hot as crap.

and idea of what that looks like.

Right now i'm staying at my co worker Georges for a week (he's out of town with his family. free wifi... warm place...) with my buddy Andrew. all he had to hear was that we were LDS and he was quick to trust (i love the connection the church brings haha). today we didnt work my first day not on the clock but its been nice to relax. The YSA ward is good, we've only been once but it wasn't bad. plus that night they had a opening social. which is always awesome (free pork and lots and lots of desserts and sides)

I've got to see my niece Sophie who i don't get to see very often, and im loving that. she's nearly four and a blast to chiil with. she loves pretending so today we " went to the store (cereal... and cereal. and milk. and bread.. and milk.. and um cereal) ..... and home... and the store (to get pasta and. umm..... pesto.) then home to cook... and WAIT a minute she informs me we're being chased by monsters so she rode off on her bike while i chased her around the parking lot. i had to convince her that the garage was a safe cave so i could breath for a moment.

To everyone back home ... i do miss you i swear. i just feel like im on a vacation so i'm enjoying it. but i'm super jealous of your weather haha. i miss skimmin.. and the lake. (and ask anyone i only like the idea of both of those things i dont ACTUALLY do them.

I've put myself to a challenge . Every ten years The American Film institute puts out a list of the top 100 movies of all time. some change, most stay the same. I've seen 15 So far. i've decided to blog my reviews of them as i go, but for now here are the movies i've checked off my list.

First Review Fittingly their Number 1 Pick

Citizen Kane (#1) 1941

Great movie , the classic story of Charles Foster Kane. About a man who is sent off at a young age, and lives away from his parents. Inherits many things but only wants to keep a struggling newspaper "because it sounds like great fun".

Main reasons the movie is great:

For the time... Amazing having watched other old movies, this one is shot in a style ahead of it's time and quite remarkable .

Charles Foster Kane: An awesome egotistic character who only loves himself. he is very stubborn but also very respectful. One part of the movie when he discovers his colleague drunk and writing a negative article about his wife, he moves him aside and finishes the article how he believes his friend would have said it. Because it was the honest thing to do. then fires his friend.

Rosebud: the real plot of this movie is all about newspaper men trying to discover what his last words meant. Why i enjoy this relates to an interest of mine (I believe a dying mans words are the most honest, best quotes. In a Time when you only have a few moments to tell the world something, you choose your words wisely. ) In this case his last words were symbolic of his childhood.

Film Style/Plot:

The movies jumps tenses alot and constantly flows from memories to the current age. enjoyed that. The plot is one of those that you only truly understand at the VERY end.

life is good.

recently i saw the movie Takers....

good movie half the actors sucked... half were amazing...

but all and in it was a good experience and i was glad to go as it was for my friend lianas birthday.

met her "friend" Justin who seems like a cool guy.

I am a little disapointed in movies lately as they seem to be all to much the same....

This was like a tyler pary does italian job haha

This Week is homecoming week.... and It's been quite an interesting one to say the least. too many hours at the school, working on the assembly which was done very well.

Wed was the powderpuff game... pretty fun to wach but disapointing to see our girls arent too talented at football haha. Tonight will be the Game against CV and should be exciting.

my summer has been fun, done alot, worked alot.

starting off the summer i went to an AVA (angels and airwaves) concert the weekend school got out. that was awesome. really though.

as summer moved on i went on a

-Rafting trip in colorado with our stake priests that wasa quite fun, alot of memories.

-Alex and Necia Married thats cool huh (nice to have my house back(for a week))

Bryan Came. that was such a surprise and so freakin awesome. he just... kinda showed up.

spent three weeks with him before taking him to lagoon (See below), and then to slc. heck of a kid, i didnt realized how much i missed him tillit was so awesome to see him. he went at efy and loved it (i hate to tell him i told ya so). we took him to lagoon

This last weekend i had the opportunity to spend time some time on lake mead... which im still confused a whether its a lake or a reservoir... but whatever. well it was a blast had lots of Fun and its hard to describe to anyone who doesn't know my family...(if you were there...need i say more, if you know us well enough you'll most likely keep hearing these stories for years to come)...
Regardless it was a blast and after our sweet hookups and with the assistance of cheap/anal/financially smart siblings we kept the costs low... which is always a plus. it was good to spend time with my siblings, rock out with the parents and get to see my nieces and nephew again. Easter was fun and the Eggs our easter bunny left behind were filled with the goodies adults love....(no mom we won';t refer to them as "Adult Toys" like you did it just sounds wrong) but i wish we had egg hunts more often. i won't waste too much time and for more pictures be sure to check out K.C.'s Blog or Kate's as they have all the pics and much longer stories

On to my more exclusive review of the book i had time to read this weekend: CRANK

Yes another media form of drugs but recently ive been studying up and interested by peoples tragedies and mistakes (don't worry still clean).

BOOK REVIEW

It's an Awesome book and one everyone should read so i won't give away too many spoilers. It describes a Junior in High school who given her hard cirumstances meets some of the wrong people at the wrong time and falls into a series of stupid decisions including an addiction to Crank.

ODDLY enough the entire book is written in various forms of poetry with combined with the theme make for an interesting read. im excited to read the next book GLASS which is the sequel .

Though some find out about this movie as nothing but a pro-substance abuse film, it’s ignorant to believe. He is no hero but it’s real. George Jung (Played by Johnny Depp) is a boy with the American dream at heart; he grew up in a poor Boston neighborhood with a family constantly struggling to get by even with a hard working father. His father offers this memorable piece of advice ”Sometimes you're flush and sometimes you're bust, and when you're up, it's never as good as it seems, and when you're down, you never think you'll be up again, but life goes on.”Soat a young age he vowed to never be poor, to never live with this broken family situation, to enjoy life.

Slowly this dream is realized and constantly through the film he experiences his ups and downs. After high school George starts off for California with only his friend “Tuna” (Ethan Suplee) to help out. Awhile living the beach life he meets Barbra (Franka Potente) who introduces him to the main marijuana dealer in his area Derek Foreal (Paul Reubans) with the help of a high school friend Kevin Duli he begins to distribute weed in various areas throughout the United States, after being caught in Chicago with 660 lbs of grass, he is sentenced to 2 years in prison. While this is happening Barbra finds out she has cancer, and George skips bail to take care of her after his mother turns him into the police he goes to prison where as he describes his experience “I entered with a bachelors in marijuana and left with a PhD in cocaine”. He meets Diego who soon hooks him up with the likes of Pablo Escobar, throughout the film you begin to see the tale of one of the world’s biggest cocaine distributor’s story, with his stolen Wife (Penelope Cruz) to his large time cocaine operation, all to tie together for his immense love for his daughter Katrina.

The film’s director Ted Demme, does an amazing job at portraying a true story without getting caught up in silly details. Provided, the real George Jung that the book and film were based upon gave personal interviews, and was able to give them all the information they could ask for, he puts it to the screen amazingly. The film carries you easily through the plot as the writing is very well done. It’s exciting to realize the rise and demise of those we’re never taught about in school, but it’s no action packed “Bourne” movie, as it I more a narrative biography that I really enjoyed.

The Shots are done extremely well, and they are able to portray lots of emotion while not portraying it too risqué or cheap. A Few shots like when He meets his 2^nd wife are especially memorable, or when he first gets into the cocaine business. Although He has many mistakes in his life, including letting his daughter down to quote him “I was busted. Set up by the FBI and the DEA. That didn't bother me. Set up by Kevin Dulli and Derek Forreal to save their own a**es. That didn't bother me. Sentenced to 60 years at Otisville. That didn't bother me. I'd broken a promise. Everything I love in my life goes away. “

similar to "Jackass" this show focuses more on vehicle/extreme sports stunts thatn useless pranks but is still the funniest thing to watch. whether its jumping Chuteless out of an airplane. jumping

a Diesel Tractor trailer, or jumping 200 ft. on a tricycle its the best .

It features Riders like Travis Pastrana,Jolene Van Vug, and Jim Dechamp, and andy bell among many others. also includes greats like Johhny Knoxville. Its interesting to see the Producer Gregg godfrey just as involved as anyone else. and their Lawyer.

A Dream, a dance, and three parties. (feelin like a weekend.....)

well... thursday - now....... thursday night i went to a school dance...( i know "middle school dance lame") but it wasnt too bad alot more people showed up than i would have ever expected..haha.. and i just hung withTaylor Brady And jaycie.... but its all good..... that night myself kim, kc, mary, and ben watched the new office episode (FINNALY) called "dinner party" it was centered around Jan and Micheals dinner party thrown for the couples at the office. (dwight not invited. though he shows up later... haha) he has alot yelling contention some funny parts and a figurative apartment flooding. it was a good funny episode but the four months of suspense made me expect more...... going on......my dream it has to be one of the oddest dreams ive ever had .... and thats quite the understatement. it started off with me meeting Borock Obama at some meet and greet thing but we actually sat down and talked. at this point of the dream i still despised the man,,,, but who gives a chance to meet someone famous ya know. so that wasd that. and life went on ...a little later (in the dream) for some oddball reason he ends up in little ol ivins UT. (yeah wouldnt ever happen). and needs a place to stay, oddly mom of course invitees him over and he ends up staying here for like a week and a half. i warm up to the guy, we have some interesting conversations... and he for some reason gives me some antique umbrella that apparently was quite sentimental. at one point he also asked to borrow my bike which hey the could be prez. rode my bike (PS i dont even own a bike currently , oddly enough) haha..i woke up thinking i dont even like the man, but after that i seem too haha.. (dont worry i still wouldnt vote for him).... friday imediently after school.. i had a service party where we tied quilts (not the best way to spend an afternoon but hey there were some fine ladies workin there) we did five quilts and barely missed the prize for a movie ticket... right after that i headed for the party of the year... the Annual Sierra Party. there was probably about 200-250+ people there and quite a blast.. this year it featured Bouncers (sounds gay but they were real rent a cops hired out and quite musicle masses) DJ Lex, Rock BAnd, a fire and lots of free food. it was a good party although uncomparable to last years.i insulted some girls i kinda wished i hadnt (not that i wasnt right just rude) but... all is good haha...i had loads of fun and a good time.. we went to ERics that night and just went to sleep after watching some Tv and wedidnt do alot but i was introduced to two bands "Flobots" and "Ludo" two weird different band but good too. saturdayi woke up showered and the like and didnt do a whole except a nap till 6:00 i went to Brandy Phillips PArty (she is now FREE of Cancer) with CJ (driver), Taylor, Rylee, and ERic. alot of people were there more than expected once again and i had alot of fun (eric and Bryan claim it was more fun then the expen$ive party). with Obstacle courses and live music i loved it alot of peeps came the last three hours and we had fun. me whitney jake peter garett and my boys wentand TP-d Brady berryessa room just for the heck of it in the middle of the party.... that was my weekend.

I got this idea from one of K8's blogs.. kinda of opposite though

as i am 15 i'd like to think about what life'll be like in ten years... still be in college..? will i have a temp job.. a Career? if so will it be my current dream of working with film.. or will it be some new entrepeneur job.. will i be married? if i am married will i have a kid? maybe even two or three.. who could possible be my wife? have i already married or is she out there maybe even in a foregin country... ? who really knows the answer to these quetions? Besides the gracious man upstairs i think they can't be known.. thats why im here to figure crap out and make lots of decisions..
Since The only thing worse than unanswered questions is a Red Sox fan talking about how they think they'll win world series... I've decided to Give the answers myself
... The Year is 2018 Still in college persuing Film possibbly at BYU... runnin a side job to get me through college.. my wife (some questions are better left unanswered) is by my side throughout everything.. No kids yet we're waiting till i finish up college..were livin pretty close to the college while im there.. but when i come home to a full house for some mjor event... little Sophie (not so little anymore) excited t0 see me but not as excited to see me as she once was... Benson (as that is what he will be called) comes up to show me all his cool new stuff... i walk into the rooms to see ol' granny and pops Bess (haha.....) holding the rest of the children maybe little canyon... camry.... the rest it sure is weird having us all married and with kidds (except myself) and such....................................................................................
